About the Artist
Anika Reichert is a visual artist based in Berlin, working primarily in abstract painting.
Her paintings show how structures shape and persist within the individual. Influenced by her background in sociology, she is particularly interested in the relationship between the individual and broader social phenomena. This perspective, combined with personal experience, forms the conceptual foundation of her practice.
Reichert’s paintings are not illustrative. Instead, they translate these dynamics into visual form. Her works are not decorative, yet remain visually accessible. They invite viewers to pause, reflect, and form their own associations.
Her process combines conceptual reflection with intuitive decision making. Many of her works begin with a conceptual framework, while the paintings themselves develop through an open and responsive process. She works with acrylic and mixed media, often applying paint directly by hand. Surfaces are built up and partially concealed, allowing different emotional and material layers to coexist within the work.
Lines play a central role in her compositions. They function as structural elements and represent formal and informal structures that act upon the individual. These structures shape, constrain and are at times internalized or transformed.
Living with Long Covid has influenced her working process. She now works more slowly and in stages, observing and revisiting her paintings over extended periods. This shift has led to greater depth, clarity, and attentiveness within her work.
Reichert’s paintings are held in private collections in Europe and Latin America. She shares her work online and through selected exhibitions and collaborations.
